Abstract

 

The achieved objectives of the school institutions depend heavily on the skills and policies of the headmaster's leadership as an education leader. The headmaster's leadership in developing and managing the school must understand the needs of the school he leads including the needs of teachers, students and school residents. The professional headmaster will always motivate all components of the school to improve their competence so that the competencies of the school residents can improve and develop well.

This research was conducted at SMPN 5 Merangin with the research subjects being teachers of SMP N 5 Merangin and the object of research was the headmaster's leadership style towards improving the quality of education in schools which was held on March 26, 2019 to September 20, 2019.

The results showed that the Head of SMPN 5 Merangin in carrying out his leadership has carried out his role and function as An Educator, Manager, Administrator, Supervisor, Leader, Innovator and Motivator successfully. The success of the headmaster's leadership is characterized by good academic and non-academic achievements at the sub-district and district levels. In overcoming various obstacles, the Head of SMPN 5 Merangin coordinated with existing stakeholders, training, training, management, workshops, supervision, school meetings, committee meetings, presenting resource persons, conducting guidance. So that the existing constraints do not interfere with the course of the school program made.
